Luna is taking it easy in her furever home!

Luna (formerly ‘Tuna’) was found on an abandoned road in Mexico. This poor gal had been out there for so long, we really don’t know what her life was before!

She always had a very gentle temperament and was just so easy going! She caught the eye of an amazing home on Vancouver Island, and after a few months of waiting for a flight she is finally home. Here is what her adopter had to say when we checked in:

“Almost 5 weeks with my little Luna and I couldn’t be happier. She is a sweet, gentle soul who made herself at home the moment she walked in the door. A sleepy girl, she spent the first 4 weeks snuggled in her bed with a few short breaks to eat, go for walks and snuggle. This past week, she has decided to sleep in a living room chair - that way, she does not have to get up to follow me around. She can see me wherever I go. She is not interested in toys but is starting to physically play with me for a few minutes at a time, especially if I have treats. She loves her treats and has just figured out that a kong toy has goodies. Although calm around my grandchildren and other dogs, Luna does not want to engage. However, she seems cautiously curious and I am sure that this will come.

I have no doubt that Luna has learned to cope with her past trauma by being invisible. I am so happy to report that she is beginning to wake up, trust and assert herself. This morning, she woke up before me and wiggled her way closer for playful cuddles - a first.

Luna walks well on a leash and has recently started to relax enough to enjoy her walks on our nearby trail. She is still hyper-vigilant and can startle easily if there are any unexpected noises. Busy city streets terrify her so we will be working on that going forward.

I am so grateful to all of you at West Coast Paws for bringing this little character into my life. She has such a lovely personality and gives me such joy. Just look at that face!  I am in love!”
