Lily is now a Canadian girly!

Lily (formerly named Nilla) lived with a homeless person on the streets of Mexico. When her owner passed away, Lily was brought to the shelter where she lived for a few months waiting for a special someone!

We found a family wanting to adopt Lily very quickly, and she has settled in so nicely! Here is what they had to say about how Lily is doing:

It has been a month since we picked up Nilla (now named Lily) at the Vancouver airport for her trip to her new home in Victoria. The airport procedure was seamless and she adapted quickly to being in a car and on the ferry for the ride home.

She has been adjusting quickly to life in Victoria - she has learned basic commands, she is eating, drinking and sleeping well and is even doing her business on grass now instead of the road and sidewalks at first. She is very friendly to all the people, dogs and cats she has been meeting. She has a few dog friends that she walks with and even went to a small dog playtime at a local school field. She comes with me to work a few days a week where she is loved by the staff - many bags of dog treats have been given to her and she spends a lot of her time sitting on everyone's laps. She is always up for long walks and even some swimming in the ocean although she always seems so shocked when she realizes how cold it is.

Her visit to the vet went well, the vet said she is one of the most "chill" rescue dogs she has met. She has a clean bill of health, except for her teeth (which we expected). She has an appointment with a veterinarian dental specialist in June so we can figure out the best option for her and her few remaining teeth.

She has had some issues with separation anxiety, she loves being with people so much! No damage to the house or accidents but crying and howling. This is slowly getting better as she gets more confident. Our vet and you had a lot of helpful tips which we are using to try to comfort her when we can't be home with her.

All we can say is thank you and the rescue in Mexico so much for bringing her off the streets and in to our family. She is the best dog ever!
